Rosalina Da Silva

 

Rosalina Da Silva has been a make-up artist for more than 30 years and was the department head on such films as Watchmen, Tooth Fairy and TRON: Legacy. She was the make-up designer on Sucker Punch and the forthcoming Underworld 4: New Dawn. On her blog, A More Beautiful Make Up (www.amorebeautifulmakeup.com), she offers tips and behind-the-scenes details on make-ups she’s created.

IMATS Vancouver Educator 2011: Todd Masters

Todd Masters 

 

A founding member of the Visual Effects Society, Todd Masters has received awards for his make-up effects, directing and visual effects work. By age 18, he was involved in classics including Big Trouble in Little China, Predator and The Lost Boys. His company, MastersFX, is a leader in motion picture and television effects, with studios in Los Angeles and Vancouver, B.C.—both offer digital and practical effects options. His recent projects include Underworld 4: New Dawn and The Haunting in Georgia, while MFX’s work appears in Red State, Super, Fringe, Falling Skies and True Blood.

Tom Adair

 

Tom Adair, Executive Director of the BC Council of Film Unions, represents the interests of more than 10,000 employees covered by IATSE, including technicians (which includes make-up artists), the Camera Guild and Teamsters. He has been the chairperson of the IATSE Local 891 Health and Welfare Benefits Trust Plan for the last 13 years and a trustee for 16. He is a member of the Motion Picture Production Industry Association and a Board member of the B.C. Motion Picture Foundation, which sponsors the Leo Awards.

Steve Johnson

 

Emmy Award-winning artist Steve Johnson has been making mind-boggling creations for 30 years. His company, XFX, did make-up effects for more than 200 films, countless TV shows, commercials and music videos. His film credits include The Abyss, Ghostbusters, Bicentennial Man, Species and Spider-Man 2. Johnson’s projects also include live-action performance for clients including Criss Angel and animatronic characters for theme parks around the globe.

Sonia Leal-Serafim

 

Sonia Leal-Serafim has made up celebrities including Fergie, John Mayer, Coco Rocha, Florence and the Machine, Ellen Page and others. She has done ad campaigns for Target, Kohl’s and Boeing and works with Jane Iredale Cosmetics, Giorgio Armani Cosmetics and TRESemmè. Her editorial clients include Men’s Fitness, Interview, Z!nk, People and Dress to Kill, among others. She has lived and worked in New York and San Francisco and now resides in Vancouver, B.C. She is represented by THEY Representation.

Wanda Longo

 

Wanda Longo has broad international experience as a professional make-up artist—her work has appeared in print, television, video and runway shows. She has worked with Creed, Holt Renfrew and M.A.C. Cosmetics. She has also done fashion shows for Valentino, Krizia, Sonia Rykiel, and DSquared. As Training Director at Cover FX Skin Care, Inc., she developed curriculum and training materials. Now, as International Communications Director, Longo directs Cover FX press offices in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as working with artists using Cover FX products.

Eve Pearl is an Emmy Award-winning celebrity make-up artist and 18-year industry veteran. She is the author of Plastic Surgery Without the Surgery: The Miracle of Makeup Techniques. She owns the Eve Pearl Cosmetics and Makeup Experience Studio and Boutique in New York. An innovator of the Salmon Concealer, Pearl has been an on-air contributor and make-up artist to Meredith Vieira on Today and a key make-up artist and guest on The View. Pearl’s work has been featured in Saturday Night Live, Good Morning America, InStyle, Vanity Fair and more.

Autumn Scruggs has more than 10 years’ experience as a make-up artist. She has worked on TV shows including So You Think You Can Dance, America’s Got Talent and America’s Next Top Model, and commercial and ad campaigns for AT&T, BMW, Capital One, General Electric, Pepsi and Audi. She has taught beauty make-up, make-up effects and airbrushing. Her celebrity clients include Leonardo DiCaprio, John Mayer, Melissa Joan Hart and Will Ferrell.

Koren Zander, aka EnKore

 

Known to most beauty enthusiasts as EnKore Makeup, Koren Zander has 20 years’ experience as a professional artist, working on theatrical productions, runway shows, commercials, bridal and print. He did the Miss USA 2010 pageant and Expo 2010 Shanghai. His YouTube channel features how-to videos on application techniques, tips and tricks, product reviews and make-up organizing ideas.
