50 Years of Doctor Who

 

The longest-running science fiction series in television history, Doctor Who celebrates its unprecedented 50th anniversary on Nov. 23. Make-up designer Sheelagh Wells is one of the few crew members to work on both the original incarnation of the series (which ran from the ’60s to the ’80s) and the current version, which was revived in 2005. Wells will discuss her memories of some of the actors who played the Doctor early on, as well as her work on David Tennant’s first season, which earned her a BAFTA in Wales for outstanding make-up.

Randy Daudlin will demonstrate an out-of-kit burn make-up with a twist. First, he will scratch- build a pitted chemical burn on his model’s face. Then, by incorporating a mixture of ENO and powdered blood, he will create the illusion that acid is literally eating into his model’s face.
