Last year, the International Make-Up Artist Trade Show sold out both days of its New York City debut. This year, IMATS New York is returning with a bigger venue, more exhibitors, more hours and plenty of high-octane talent.

IMATS New York will be held at Pier 94, which boasts 133,000 square feet (up from 50,000 square feet at the 2011 show). More companies, including first-time IMATS New York exhibitors, will be setting up shop in the expanded space. The show will run April 14-15; a pre-show event, held April 13, will be open exclusively to Make-Up Artist magazine Pro Card holders.

Elite make-up artist Kabuki is headlining IMATS New York. His work spans editorial (Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle), celebrities (Madonna, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson), TV and film (Sex and the City, Party Monster) and runway make-up (Zac Posen, Diesel, Jason Wu, Miss Sixty).

Oscar-nominated special make-up effects artist Adrien Morot (Barney's Version) will also be a special guest at the show, along with editorial and fashion make-up artist Joey Mills (Vogue, Glamour, Harper's Bazaar, Brooke Shields) and YouTube beauty guru Kandee Johnson.

Emmy-winning Saturday Night Live key artist Josh Turi returns to IMATS New York as curator of the Make-up Museum, which will showcase new movie, TV and theater make-up memorabilia from internationally known artists.

In the student make-up competitions, international make-up students will race to create winning looks. This year’s beauty competition is themed Wild Kingdom; the character competition has a Men in Black Aliens theme.

IMATS is produced by Make-Up Artist magazine, a division of Key Publishing Group. IMATS is held annually in London; New York; Los Angeles; Vancouver, B.C.; Sydney and Toronto. Make-Up Artist is read in nearly 70 countries and was created in 1996 by Emmy Award-winning make-up artist Michael Key.

IMATS Pro hours will be held 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 13; regular show hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 14 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 15. For tickets and more information, visit www.imats.net.
