Emmy Award-winning artist Kevin James Bennett recaps make-up trends from the Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week Spring 2013 shows. He will demonstrate the tools and techniques needed to create the color-blocked eye make-up, bold brows and luminous complexions featured on the runways. Bennett will also discuss basic make-up brush construction, how he collaborated with Royal & Langnickel to design the [R]evolution Collection and the best practices to care for your tools.

Mireille Bertrand offers an overview of retro make-up techniques for applying vintage looks from the 1940s through the late ’50s. She will cover contouring to alter the appearance of the face, the most popular brow and lip shapes and coloring for eye make-up. She will also design the original doe eye, with all the variations and the beauty patches, and discuss this type of application for photography and filming.

Howard Berger worked with Stan Winston on Predator and Aliens and Rick Baker on Harry and the Hendersons. In 1988, Berger and Gregory Nicotero formed their own studio, KNB EFX Group, Inc. in Los Angeles. KNB has worked on Dances With Wolves, Casino, the Kill Bill films, Inglourious Basterds, Army of Darkness and Sin City. Berger’s greatest challenge thus far has been adapting The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It earned him a BAFTA for Best Makeup and an Academy Award for Achievement in Makeup. He has also worked on the second and third Narnia films and most recently worked on Oz: The Great and Powerful and Hitchcock, which earned him an Oscar nomination this year along with Peter Montagna and Martin Samuel.

Recently she was in New Zealand working as the prosthetics supervisor on The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which earned her an Oscar nomination this year along with Peter Swords King and Rick Findlater. In 2006, she won the Achievement in Makeup Oscar for her work on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
