2013 Battle of the Brushes Themes Announced

posted Thursday, Nov. 6, 2012

The IMATS Battle of the Brushes student competitions are some of the most exciting events during the show. Each year, 16 students-per-IMATS race against the clock and each other to win cash, prizes and acclaim. And themes for the beauty/fantasy and character/prosthetic categories change every year.

For 2013, the beauty/fantasy theme is The Elements, inspired by—but not limited to—the four forces of nature: earth, wind, fire and water. The beauty/fantasy competition takes place on Saturday, and the time limit is two hours.

The 2013 character/prosthetic theme is Oz: The Great and Powerful, based on the upcoming movie. This competition takes place on Sunday. Competitors will be given prosthetics on the day of competition, which they must incorporate into their designs. The time limit for the character competition is three hours. No outside prosthetics are allowed, only those supplied by IMATS.

For complete details on entering the Battle of the Brushes and rules on the competition, visit the Student Competition page.

posted Saturday, June 23, 2012

IMATS Los Angeles News: New dates for IMATS Los Angeles & London 2013

Starting next year, IMATS is switching its Los Angeles and London shows! IMATS Los Angeles 2013 will be held Jan.18-20; IMATS London 2013 will be held June 21-23. Additionally, IMATS London 2013 is returning to Central London-it will be held at the Olympia National Hall Kensington.

This change comes about, in part, because of exhibitor and attendee requests to have the London show during a warmer and less snowy time of year and closer to central London. Each show will still have the same great quality you can expect from IMATS.

Tickets for IMATS Los Angeles and London 2013 will be on sale starting Monday, June 25 at makeupmag.com/imats.
