Strong Sunday Turnout Despite Snow

Saturday night the Alexandra Palace area was hit with several inches of snow, which hampered transportation efforts to get up the hill. Despite this, many excited attendees managed to make their way to Palm Court to check in. As a reminder, tickets are non-refundable, even for difficulties caused by snow.

Make-up artists from films considered for 2012 Oscar and BAFTA awards will be on hand at IMATS London 2012 for an Oscar panel discussion. Join branch governor Leonard Engelman and IMATS director Michael Key as they talk with Ann Buchanan (Hugo), Mark Coulier (The Iron Lady), Nick Dudman (the Harry Potter series), David Martí (Gainsbourg: Vie héroïque), Montsé Ribe (Gainsbourg: Vie héroïque) and Bjoern Rehbein (Anonymous).

War Horse Make-up Designer Lois Burwell Added as Keynote Speaker

Academy Award winner Lois Burwell (Braveheart) has been added as a keynote speaker for IMATS London 2012. She was recently the make-up designer and department head on the World War I epic War Horse and has worked on such films as The Princess Bride, Legend, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Fifth Element, Highlander and Mona Lisa. Academy Governor Engelman Joins Pro-Card Event

Special guest Leonard Engelman (right)—the governor of the Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences—will be attending the IMATS London 2012 Pro Card Event, Feb. 3, 2012. This exclusive event is for Make-Up Artist magazine Pro Card holders only and runs from 2 to 7 p.m. at Alexandra Palace. Engelman will be on hand to answer Oscar-related questions during his rare U.K. appearance. Keynote speaker Nick Dudman will recreate a goblin make-up from the Harry Potter films at IMATS London 2012. Actor Warwick Davis (Harry Potter series, Willow, Life's Too Short) played Griphook the goblin and Professor Filius Flitwick in the Harry Potter films. Details coming soon to the Schedule page.
