Alex LaMarsh

Alex LaMarsh

At 6'2" Alex LaMarsh is a force to be reckoned with, whether she’s wielding a make-up brush or producing photo shoots. LaMarsh moved from Nebraska to San Francisco to study fashion and costume design; she worked as a theater and opera costumer before moving to New York to model. After living and working in Los Angeles for more than a decade, she moved to New York, where she’s now a make-up and hair artist and a beauty columnist.

Cig Neutron

Winner of the all-star season 11 of Faceoff, Cig Neutron is a special effects make-up artist, creature designer and fabricator. He has worked on a variety of films and shows including: Suckerpunch, Tron: Legacy and Star Trek Discovery.

Colin Penman

Colin Penman is an Emmy-winning make-up artist with 29 years of experience in film and television. He began primarily focusing on prosthetic and special make-up effects, but soon broadened his skills to encompass all aspects of make-up artistry. Penman heads the make-up department on Star Trek: Discovery and the hit series American Gods.  Other notable credits include the Stephen King mini-series 11-22-63, Guillermo del Toro’s The Strain, Pacific Rim, Total Recall, The Kennedys, Defiance, Copper and Hairspray.  

Dany Sanz

Dany Sanz is the creator and artistic director of MAKE UP FOR EVER. In the 1980s, there were very few products available to professional make-up artists; with the help of her husband, she launched MAKE UP FOR EVER in 1984. She created a MAKE UP FOR EVER Academy in 2002. With the brand in more than 52 countries, it’s easy to see how her mission to create high-quality make-up for professionals and everyday women has succeeded.

Donald Mowat

As make-up department head/designer on 8 Mile, The Fighter, Sicario, Nightcrawler, Stronger, The Darkest Minds and the upcoming movie First Man, Donald Mowat is one of the film industry’s most sought-after make-up artists. A long time member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, The British Academy of Film and Television Arts and the Hollywood Make-up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Local 706, Mowat has received awards and nominations for several projects, including Blade Runner 2049, Nocturnal Animals and Prisoners. In 2012 he was awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his service to the film industry and various charities. Mowat has been associated with the beloved charity The Actors Fund of Canada and Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television which led to the formation of an annual make-up category: Canadian Screen Awards.

Doug Jones

A native of Indianapolis, Doug Jones graduated from Ball State University with a minor in theater. He moved to Los Angeles in 1985 and has been working ever since. He’s acted in more than 25 films, including Hocus Pocus, Batman Returns, Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy, Hellboy II: The Golden Army and Crimson Peak. He has earned widespread appraise for many roles, and is beloved as a true character actor.

Hugo Villaseñor

Hugo Villaseñor has been working in film and TV for almost 14 years. He’s a graduate of Make-up Designory in Burbank, Calif. Some of his credits include ClownScouts Guide to the Zombie ApocalypseThe Conjuring 2The Bad BatchMystery Science Theater 3000 and Annabelle: Creation. He's currently working as key prosthetics on the new Star Trek: Discovery TV series.

James MacKinnon

James MacKinnon has 29 years of film and television experience in all aspects of make-up, special effects and design. Along with three Emmys for his work on Nip/Tuck, American Horror Story: Freak Show and AHS: Hotel and three Make-up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards, he also boasts four Emmy nominations. MacKinnon is the department head of prosthetics and make-up effects for the new Star Trek: Discovery. Past credits include Jobs, The Fate of the Furious, Furious 7, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, First Contact, Alias, Larry Crowne, CSI: NY and Stigmata.

Jane McKay

Senior make-up artist Jane McKay has had an expansive career. McKay began as an esthetician but changed course in 1989 when she was hired by M.A.C. to create and lead its global artist training division. One defining moment at M.A.C. was when co-founder Frank Toskan sent her to appear on Oprah in his place in front of an audience of 80 million. After 10 years at M.A.C., McKay left to concentrate on her make-up artistry. Today, McKay hosts master classes, writes for various publications and designs make-up looks for photo shoots and fashion shows across international cities.

Mike Hill

Mike Hill is an award-winning sculptor from the north of England. His credits include The Wolfman, Men in Black 3 and American Horror Story. This January he was nominated for a BAFTA for his work on The Shape of Water.  Hill’s skill in capturing likenesses began at the age of 4, when he started digging clay from a riverbank. He is known primarily for his highly realistic silicone sculptures and portraits. His work is sought by collectors such as Guillermo del Toro, Peter Jackson and Greg Nicotero.

Mimi Choi

Mimi Choi is known for her surreal illusionist make-up creations using easy-to-find, everyday make-up products. The Blanche Macdonald graduate-turned-instructor has collaborated with Kryolan, Make Up For Ever, M.A.C. Cosmetics, Velour Lashes and musician Beck. Her work has also been featured in various international magazines, blogs and websites with more than 19 million views. Choi’s stunning illusionist creations have garnered her a flourishing online following of over 340,000 on Instagram (gaining nearly 250,000 in less than six months).

Ravion Francis

Ravion Francis is a professional make-up and special effects artist with more than 10 years of experience. Having developed a passion for the industry while doing drag make-up, he has blossomed into a well-recognized artist. Francis has worked for M.A.C., Sephora, Loreal, Olay and NYX. He later worked for Rodial as a senior make-up artist. He received critical acclaim as the resident make-up artist at Trump Towers and worked there until its closure. He recently joined VDL cosmetics.

Rocky Faulkner

Rocky Faulkner is a diverse make-up artist with 20 years of experience. He is known for his work on StarTrek: Discovery, True Blood, One Tree Hill, Salt and X-Men: Last Stand… to name a few.  

Sean Sansom

Sean Sansom is an award-winning special make-up effects artist, with more than 25 years experience in film and television.  Most recently Sansom was credited as supervisor/designer on The Strain series, IT, and as key on-set artist for The Shape of Water.  Also serving as a key artist on nominated/winning films, such as Suicide SquadGrey GardensCinderella Man, and Dawn of the Dead.

Siân Richards

Siân Richards is an award-winning make-up artist. Richards has worked in every avenue that make-up demands, from editorial to special effects. She won the Broadcast Film Critics Choice Award for the transformation she performed on Halle Berry in Cloud Atlas and was Emmy and 706 Guild Award nominated for her transformation of Queen Latifah into ’30s blues icon Bessie Smith. Richards just completed working on Marvel Studios’ Black Panther, just wrapped Avengers: Infinity War and will shoot Avengers 4 (Untitled) this fall. Thomas E. Surprenant

Thomas E. Surprenant has been a make-up artist for more than 30 years and has developed products and techniques to further the craft. He has been nominated for three Emmys and has won twice. Surprenant has also been part of two Academy Award-winning make-up crews and has received a Make-up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild award. He has contributed to Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, the Syfy show Defiance and has designed brushes for the Bdellium Tools SFX line.
