Have you ever wondered how lighting works in the world of make-up? Have you ever dreamed of working in the movies, TV or film? Are you worried that you may look foolish on a production set because your work isn’t photographing correctly? Lighting is the key element that can define our work. If you answered yes, this class is for you!

Welcome to the Lighting for Makeup Artists101© workshop, by two-time Emmy-nominated make-up artist Sara Seidman Vance. Lighting for Makeup Artists101© is designed for anyone who wants to understand the core values behind lighting technology both on set and on location.

In this class you will learn:

-How correct lighting works to filter and create the perfect balance in make-up.

-How to be able to determine how your make-up will appear under different lighting circumstances.

-How to be able to interact with the Director of Photography or Lighting Designer with confidence.

What to Bring:

-All students are requested kindly to arrive without wearing any make-up products, as you will all be working on each other. All students must have basic make-up skills.

-Full make-up and skin prep kit – foundations and highlighters for global skin tones (foundation palettes are great!).

-Make-up brushes and brush cleaner.

Artistry Unlocked – Perfecting Your Presence

Join Derrick Rutledge in his full-day master class that will focus on conveying your strengths and presence when it comes to enhancing your image. Rutledge will talk about Perfecting Your Presence through branding and personal style. He will discuss his two most prominent clients—Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey—and how these powerful women navigate the demand, rigor and pressure of being true to their brand. Rutledge wants to do for you what he does every day for Oprah and Michelle. He will focus on attitude, knowledge of application, style and use of essential tools. All of which can lead to a stronger foundation for perfecting how you are perceived in the world.

Artistry Unlocked – How To Be An Expert TV & Movie Make-up Day Player & Background Supervisor

This class will focus on the ins and outs of how to wrangle background extras, featured extras, stunt and photo doubles. Artists will be taught how to organize, set up and work with the tools/equipment needed. We will also go over what it takes to get extras ready for period and futuristic looks, glamour and every day. We will also focus on how to get your talent ready for their call times.

All attendees of this class will be eligible for a chance to win a Background Makeup Cart that will be raffled off at the end of the class.

Watch as the stars of tomorrow face off in the student make-up competition. Models will present the final make-up creations of make-up students, who are competing for cash and prizes. The 2018 character/prosthetic theme is Victorian Emporium. Both character and beauty competitions are broadcast on Facebook Live and have a behind the scenes interview prior to the show as well as a post show interview.

Understanding how intentions, colors and textures create powerful images.

During Roque Cozzette’s interactive seminar where make-up meets self-awareness, he will focus the attention on advanced make-up application techniques that enhances shape, creating the illusion of light and shadow on beautifully perfected skin. Cozzette will demonstrate how to create vivid color through the eyes of color theory for beauty make-up and photography. In addition, he will demonstrate the integration of make-up mixology and how the layering process can elevate your craft. Cozzette will include in his talk the importance of etiquette and relationship-building to ensure client retention, going into detail about creating with the intention on selecting the best path to attract the abundance you deserve.

Beyond Basic Beauty

Watch as Saj Mack creates an editorial beauty concept, developed with inspiration from current industry trends. This single make-up demonstration will show how to achieve a detailed editorial beauty look and skin work that requires no photoshop, all tied together with a creative make-up application.
